Oz’s lifetime of love and passion for Maitland Football Club

For lifelong local Paul Osland, or 'Oz' as he is affectionately known, Maitland Football Club is a club he was born into, and he hasn't left since. Mr Osland is considered by many to be one of the back bones of Maitland Football Club, having held just about every role in the club through the years whether it was groundskeeper, cleaner, treasurer or president. "I feel like I've been born into Maitland Football Club," he said. "One of the founders of the club was an uncle who I was close [...]

Magpie Mail Edition 2

Hello to all our players, parents and supporters. The weeks are starting to roll on very quickly towards the start of the competition season – particularly for NPL Youth and JDL– 2 weeks to go. Like so many things all around the globe, the COVID pandemic has had a significant impact on our football preparations. The late completion of the 2020 season meant overlaps in trials and selections for 2021, delays in pre-Christmas training starts, delays in gear ordering and still remaining are the impositions on indoor gatherings. Our coaching [...]

Magpie Mail – Edition 9

Dear All, This edition of Magpie Mail needs to be solely related to the COVID-19 concerns of this weekend. The concerns are that important. Youth play at Cooks Square Saturday against Mid North Coast Seniors play at Darling St Oval on Saturday against Olympic Youth. I congratulate the foresight shown by Dan Barge and Youth coaching staff at this start of this week. They identified that we were due for a very wet weekend and made early arrangements to get the games moved from Sunday to Saturday, in the hope [...]

Magpie Mail – Edition 8

Dear All, As we get deeper into the year and the season, the obstacles and challenges continue to confront us. The recent wet weather, postponement of games and impacts on training schedules are all impediments that add to the concerns we already struggle with in daily COVID-19 related life. I assure you though, that from a Maitland Football point of view, the club’s Executive and Management Committee are absolutely dedicated to the task of providing the opportunity for competitive football for the Youth in our charge. We don’t always get [...]

Dear Players, Parents and Supporters, This coming weekend represents our first competitive home game since the lockdown has been lifted. Maitland Football is hosting Youth games on Saturday against Edgeworth and on Sunday when the Seniors play Lake Macquarie. The SAP squads will be spread in various locations on Saturday and Sunday. In that scenario, SAP players will be subject to the conditions laid down and regulated by the relevant home club. We are all aware of the serious possibility of NSW and this region in particular being hit by [...]

GOVERNMENT CHANGES TO COMMUNITY FOOTBALL EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY. Over the past week, there has been a rise in case numbers of COVID-19 throughout Victoria and New South Wales. As such, late yesterday the NSW Government requested the sporting community take all reasonable steps to reduce the risk of infection through minimising the number of spectators attending community sport. So, in addition to maintaining good hygiene, on behalf of our Clubs and Football Community, we ask all participants, particularly spectators, to take onboard the following measures: Where possible, have just one parent/carer [...]
